Bird watching tour Valencia

A Bird watching Valencia is a guaranty to observe many uncommon species. Not far from the cosmopolitan city of Valencia, we find one of the best birding spots of all Spain, the Albufera de Valencia. This huge park is mainly a freshwater lagoon and it is surrounded by rice fields and marshes. In this bird watching Valencia tour, we will visit the main birding spots of this important Natural Park which covers a baste area of 21,120 ha. We will look around the different habitats such as the sandbars, the marshes, the paddy fields, and the lagoon.

In the Albufera, is possible to watch during the migration up to 90 bird species in one single day. In addition, the area is well-known for attracting a large number of uncommon species, especially during the Autumn migration. This time of the tear is also excellent for waders. Nevertheless, during the whole year long, a great bio-diversity of fauna and flora can be observed in the Albufera. In addition, the diversity of dragonflies is remarkable.

Species we find during a bird watching tour in Valencia

Some of the species that could be seen in this tour are Purple Swamphen, Moustached and Savi’s Warbler, and Collared Pratincole. Besides, there will be a good number of terns: Sandwich Tern, Little Tern, Common Tern, Whiskered and Gull-billed Tern. In addition, Slender-billed and Audouin’s gull are regularly seen during the breeding season.

Winter is also a great time to visit the Albufera. If we are lucky, we might see large flocks of fluttering Balearic Shearwater. Kingfisher and  Red-Crested Pochard are common as well as Booted Eagle and Marsh Harrier. If we look closely along the ditches, we might find another beauty, the Bluethroat.

This tour involves no walk difficulties and can be combined with another wetland area located North of Valencia “Marjal dels Moros”. In addition, our company has access to restricted areas (Tancats) which are green filters that do not open to the general public.
